2 Signs That You Need To Hire A Plumber To Fix Your Toilet

Posted on: 13 March 2017

While there are some simple issues with your toilet that you can likely fix on your own, such as getting a new toilet seat, there are other more serious issues where it is going to be best to leave up to the professionals. Trying to fix your toilet on your own in this type of a situation can sometimes make things worse, and most of the time you are going to end up having to hire a plumber to come in and fix the issue anyway. This article is going to discuss 2 signs that you need to hire a plumber to come and fix your toilet for you.

Constant Clogs

If you notice that your toilet is clogging up all of the time, you may just be tempted to continually use your plunger to try and unclog it. However, the fact that your toilet is clogging all of the time is a sign of a more serious issue. There may be something stuck inside of the pipe that was accidentally flushed down the toilet, or it may be a cumulative buildup from over the years of grime, sludge, hair, etc. In either case, you are going to need the help of a professional plumber to remove whatever it is that is blocking the pipe. They will be able to safely run a pipe snake down the pipe and remove these items without causing any damage to your pipe or to your toilet.

Leaks

The base of your toilet is going to have a wax seal that goes all of the way around it. This seal is going to stop any and all water from coming up through it when water runs through your toilet. However, if the seal doesn't hold, and you find your toilet leaking each time that you flush it, this is a very serious issue. The leak is going to make your toilet completely useless to you because you can't safely use it, and the water damage that this can cause to your floors and/or ceilings can be incredibly expensive to repair. For these reasons, you are going to want to contact a plumber the second that you notice there is a leaking issue. They are going to realize the issue is an emergency and will help you do all that you need to turn off the water to your toilet. They will then come right away to try and fix the issue.
