The pump in a water well is what makes sure that water gets from that well to your home. Without a properly working pump, you will not be able to function in your home like you are used to doing. Therefore, you should try to keep an eye on your well pump so you can catch clues that may indicate that a replacement is needed. To assist you with that, here are a few signs of well pump trouble that you will want to watch out for.
There Is Low Water Pressure in the Home
If you turn on the sink and notice that there is not a lot of water pressure, you will want to go around the home to see if the problem is everywhere. This will help you determine if it is just a problem with the one sink or if it is possibly a lack of water being pumped out from the well. If the low water pressure is throughout the entire home, the problem is likely to be outside of the structure.
The Pump Is Suddenly Much Louder
When you approach your water well and listen carefully, you should be able to hear a slight noise coming from the water well pump. This is to be expected. However, if the noise that you are used to hearing is suddenly much louder, your well pump may need repairs. This means that you will want to call a plumber as soon as possible because there is no way to know how much longer you have before the well pump completely gives out and you are without any water at all.
The Water in Your Home Looks Gross
If the well pump has started to fail, it could result in some sludge or dirt being sent through the water line and into your home. This is not water that you want to drink or cook with. You probably would not want to shower or wash clothes with it either. The best thing to do is to purchase some gallons of filtered or spring water and use that for drinking and cooking until the plumber comes to your home to inspect the well pump.
Once a failing well water pump is replaced, you should find that all of your water problems will be solved. Also, since there should be a warranty on the new pump, you should not have to worry about such issues happening again for a long time.
